Applied AI product studio

AI that takes work off the customer.

We build a portfolio of AI-focused products for the places people actually are — a phone with no signal, a text message at four in the afternoon. Two are in build today.

The portfolio

Two products in build. Different customers, different surfaces, one conviction about where machine intelligence belongs.

DuoVerse

Conversation cards that work with no signal at all.

A deck of conversation prompts for the moments a screen usually gets in the way — a long drive, a dinner, a first date. Everything runs on one device: no account, no connection, no sync. Buy a pack once and own it outright. The AI works upstream, in the pipeline that writes and stress-tests every deck, and never ships inside the app itself.

Holler

Shift coverage that runs entirely over text message.

When someone calls out at four in the afternoon, Holler reads the message in plain English, works out who is eligible, and broadcasts the open shift to them. First to claim it wins — settled atomically, so two people can never be handed the same slot. Nothing for staff to install, no login to forget, and no interface to learn beyond the one already in their pocket.

How we pick our spots

  1. Applied AI, not AI theatre

A model goes in where it changes the outcome — reading a plain-English message so nobody has to learn an app, turning messy human input into a clean decision. Where a feature does not get better with AI, we leave it alone. Knowing the difference is most of the job.

  2. A portfolio, not a one-off

Each product stands on its own, but they share foundations: evaluation harnesses, model and prompt infrastructure, and hard-won knowledge of what survives contact with production. Every product we ship makes the next one faster to build.

  3. The customer’s advantage first

AI should cost the person using it less effort, not more attention. We measure a feature by the work it removes, never by the time it captures. That rules out a good deal of what the industry currently ships.

About

Starboard Software is an independent studio. We build across whatever surface the problem actually lives on — native mobile, the web, or nothing but a text message — against a single well-drawn core, so the experience holds together wherever it is picked up.

The bar is software that still runs in three years without a rewrite. Offline-first where connectivity is unreliable, clear seams between the parts, and scope cut before quality every time.
